Introduction

South China Normal University is a member of the National Sponsoring Project for Double First-Class University Construction, a key university under the "Project 211" (a national project aiming to establish 100 well-acknowledged key universities and colleges in China), the university co-construction by the Guangdong Provincial Government and Ministry of Education, and one entering Guangdong High-Level University Sponsoring Project. The university currently has four campuses in three locations, including the Shipai Campus (Guangzhou City), University Town Campus (Guangzhou City), the Nanhai Campus (Foshan City), and the Binhai Campus (Shanwei City). The university total land area of 5328 acres, comprises four academic divisions, thirty-five colleges and nine research institutes.

The Foshan Campus was found in 2000 and covers an area of 473 acres. It has five teaching and research institutes, including the Faculty of Engineering, School of Electronic Science and Engineering, School of Artificial Intelligence, International Business College, Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Beidou (Satellite) Research Institute. Foshan campus now has three doctoral programs, nineteen master's programs and thirteen undergraduate programs, also with eight provincial and  ministerial-level scientific research platforms, two national first-class programs including electronic information science and technology, software engineering, and four provincial first-class programs in electronic information engineering, information engineering, software engineering and management of cultural industry. There are 267 full-time faculty members in Foshan campus, including 157 teachers with doctoral degrees and 78 members with senior titles or higher, with a total of 7,226 students, including 5,739 has undergraduates degree, 1,433 masters, and 54 doctoral students.

South China Normal University signed a four-party agreement of campus construction with the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, Foshan City and Nanhai District Governments in 2019, And signed a “Four-party Agreement on the Co-construction of Faculty of Engineering” in 2021. Nanhai campus has been renamed into Foshan Campus and launched the first international cooperation program in 2022. From 2023 to date, aiming to build the campus withNew Engineering, Internationalization, New Businessas the orientation. The Foshan Campus is closely aligned with the development of the city and the transformation and upgrading of local industries. The schools and disciplines settings of the campus are focusing on the fields of digital economy, big data management, semiconductors, microelectronics, communication engineering, artificial intelligence, spatial and temporal information, and positioning and navigation, focusing on the layout of information-based new engineering and new business disciplines, it is committed to creating a special zone for talent cultivation, a demonstration zone for internationalized schooling, a pilot zone for institutional reform and a demonstration zone for industry-university-research cooperation.
